The present study was carried out to investigate the effects of nutrient concentration on plant growth and development of Dendranthema grandiflora Tzvelev. cv. Baekgwang in aeroponics. The nutrient solution were 1/4¡¿,1/2¡¿,1¡¿,2¡¿ concentration of the balanced nutrient formula developed by Japanese Horticultural Experiment Station. Nutrient solution became more acidic when the solution concentration was higher. The plants grew better with 1/4¡¿ concentration at early stage, but became weak and pale green at later stage, indicating the nutrient was deficient. On the other hand, the plants grown on 2¡¿ concentration clearly showed the symptoms of excessive nutrition. Both photosynthetic activity and transpiration rate were higher with 1/2¡¿ and standard concentration than those on either 1/4¡¿ or 2¡¿ in solution concentrations. Chlorophyll content in the leaves decreased as the concentration of nutrient solution lowered. Cut flowers produced from 1/2¡¿ concentration were of superior in quality, while those from 2¡¿ concentration were less desirable. Days to flowering was shortened by 11 days, 8 days and 5 days in 1/4¡¿, 2¡¿ and 1/2¡¿ concentration, respectively, as compared with standard concentration.
